About Oakline

A small workshop that takes its time

Oakline started as one carpenter, a van and a reputation for turning up when he said he would. Two decades on we’re a small team — but the standard hasn’t changed.

We still measure twice and cut once, still finish the parts you’ll never see, and still treat your home like our own.

  • Solid, responsibly sourced hardwoods — never flat-pack
  • Fixed prices agreed up front, in writing
  • Clean, tidy work and a 10-year guarantee on every fit

Common questions

Anything you need to know

If your question isn’t here, just call or drop us a message — we’re happy to talk it through.

How long does a bespoke piece take to make?

It depends on complexity. A simple shelf unit or small cabinet might be ready in two to three weeks; a full fitted kitchen or staircase typically takes six to ten weeks from sign-off to installation. We give you a clear timeline in every quote.

Do you offer free, no-obligation quotes?

Yes. We visit your home, take measurements, talk through what you have in mind and send you an itemised fixed-price quote — at no charge and with no pressure to proceed.

Are you fully insured?

Yes, we carry full public liability insurance. Copies are available on request.

What timber do you use?

We work primarily with solid hardwoods — oak, walnut, ash and tulipwood — sourced from responsibly managed forests. We’ll recommend the right species for your project and budget.

What does your 10-year workmanship guarantee cover?

It covers any defect in materials or workmanship on every piece we make or install. If something isn’t right, we come back and put it right — no questions asked.

Do you supply materials as well as fit them?

Both. We can supply and install a complete job, or fit materials you’ve sourced yourself. Let us know in your enquiry and we’ll advise on the best approach.

What areas do you cover?

We’re based at Mill Lane Workshops and cover the city and approximately 30 miles around. If you’re just outside that radius it’s worth asking — for larger projects we’re often happy to travel further.

Can I see examples of your work before committing?

Absolutely. Our gallery shows a sample of recent projects and we’re happy to share more detailed case studies relevant to your job. We can also put you in touch with previous customers if that would help.
